Bharti Airtel has launched a 4G smartphone for its customers in Rs.1,349 in partnership with mobile phone maker Selcon. The company said in a statement Monday that this partnership is part of Airtel’s first smartphone initiative. Under this, Airtel plans to launch a smartphone in the price of feature phone in conjunction with the device maker. The Selcon Smart 4G (which is available in the market at a price of Rs 3,500) has a four-inch touchscreen, dual sim slots and FM radio.
It’s an Android powered 4G smartphone, which provides all the Google Play Store services, which includes YouTube, Facebook and Wattsapp. This device comes preloaded with the MyAirTit app, Wing music and Airtel TV app. Airtel has launched this smartphone with a monthly pack of Rs 169, which provides a great deal of calling and data.
Bharti Airtel Director (Consumer Business) and Chief Marketing Officer Raj Pudipedi said, “We are happy to partner with Selcon in our effort to bring the smartphone option into the market and to build an open ecosystem of low-cost devices.”
To get this offer, the customer has to make a down payment of Rs 2,849 and a recharge of Rs 169 per month for 36 consecutive months is to be recharged. After 18 months, the customer will receive a cash refund of Rs 500 and a 36-month cash refund of Rs 1,000 will be available. In this way the customer will get the benefit of a total of Rs 1,500.
